Real Madrid were dealt a serious injury blow this week, with a Spanish paper reporting that Gareth Bale is set to miss Wednesday night’s Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Spanish outlet AS is reporting that Bale is one of four Madrid players who could miss Wednesday’s return fixture between the two top teams in Champions League Group H. Starting keeper Keylor Navas will also miss the match after picking up an injury playing for Costa Rica in the last international break. Defender Rafael Varane is also a serious doubt with a knock picked up against Girona last week, while Isco is also injured but could start on the bench.

It’s a little disappointing to know that Spurs won’t be able to go up against Bale at Wembley Stadium. Madrid are that much better when he’s on the pitch, and while he might not get the warmest of receptions from the Spurs supporters, it’s still a reunion. Still, him being out (along with Navas, Varane, and Isco) will hopefully make it slightly easier to get a result on Wednesday night.

For Tottenham, Harry Kane is questionable as he continues to recover from a slight hamstring strain. Victor Wanyama is still recovering from a knee injury and will not feature. They are the only two players currently listed on Tottenham’s injury report.
