But now Madrid have come to London, and after a bad league loss to Girona are wanting a big win in Europe’s biggest cup competition. Can Spurs nick another result at home? Can Spurs get another result?

In some ways, just getting one result against Real Madrid feels like an achievement. Now we’re wondering about another one. Are we greedy?

In a word, yes. Nicking a point at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu felt glorious at the time, and it was — but now Spurs have a great ask ahead of them: do it again. And the pressure feels higher, because this time it’s at home, against a banged-up Madrid without Varane, Bale, Navas, and maybe Isco. A draw doesn’t seem that far-fetched an idea. A win...?

A loss isn’t catastrophic to Spurs’ Champions League hopes, but it carries its own narrative. Losing today would mean Spurs’ third consecutive defeat in all competitions, and that weighs on players and fans alike and puts a stupid amount of pressure on the Premier League match this weekend against Crystal Palace.

Mauricio Pochettino’s tactical lineup is also an open question. Last time, throwing Fernando Llorente was a tactical master stroke, but will it work a second time? Or will Pochettino revert to something more familiar?

And will my fingernails survive until the final whistle?
