Vincent Janssen refuses to rule out leaving Tottenham

Well... he didn’t say he’s NOT leaving either.

Vincent Janssen isn’t heavily linked with a departure from Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the transfer window, but that doesn’t mean he might not yet go. Speaking to Dutch outlet NOS ahead of the Netherlands’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers, Janssen didn’t say much about his happiness at Spurs... but what he didn’t say spoke volumes.

“You’re never happy with [being a backup], everyone wants to play, but the situation is so.

If I’m staying? I do not want to say too much about it at the moment. I want to focus on the Netherlands, The other questions I leave for later. “

Well, that’s not exactly “I’m leaving,” but neither is it the boilerplate “I’m enjoying my teammates and looking forward to contributing as much as I can this season” either. For what it’s worth, he’s probably right to be a little unhappy considering the nightmare season he had at Spurs last year.

Janssen is dubiously linked to Crystal Palace, West Brom, and Stoke City, but it would be extremely surprising if Spurs would let him go without a ready replacement coming in. That said, Liverpool striker Divock Origi’s father is now on record saying that Tottenham are a possible destination for his son, sooooo...

Buckle up. We still have about 47 hours of this to go.
