Tottenham Hotspur have been in limbo the past few days waiting to see whether their biggest transfer target of the summer will receive a work permit to play in the United Kingdom. Now it appears they have cleared that final hurdle. Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas tweeted this morning that Serge Aurier has received permission from the Home Office to receive a work permit, and that his £25m transfer from PSG could be completed shortly.

The issue with Aurier’s work permit had to do with the fact that he was convicted for assaulting a police office outside of a nightclub last year. Aurier has appealed the verdict and his conviction, but the UK had already banned him from entering the county based on his conviction.

Now it appears the Home Office has granted him permission to work/play football in England, which paves the way for him to complete his transfer. Aurier is an extremely talented right back who could straight away be in contention to start matches for Spurs this season and would be direct competition with Kieran Trippier.

As always, we await the formal announcement from Tottenham Hotspur.
