Tottenham-linked Divock Origi heading to Wolfsburg on loan

Not sure if Spurs were ever interested. Too late now!

It’s News O’Clock here at Tottenham Hotspur transfer window central. The latest comes from the Liverpool Echo, which states that Liverpool’s Divock Origi, who was nominally linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the window, is instead heading to Germany for a year-long loan with Wolfsburg.

Origi found life tough in Merseyside and essentially lost his role in the team. He was linked to Spurs earlier in the window by none other than his father, who said that Tottenham might be a possible destination for his son. However, there doesn’t seem to be any real evidence that Spurs were ever interested in him, despite that report. Maybe they kicked the tires and decided not to move, I don’t know.

Origi might have made sense in a world where Spurs offload Vincent Janssen, but only if you cock your eyes and squint a bit. I’m pretty sure this was a nothing rumor from the beginning, and now it looks like we don’t have to worry about it at all.
