Llorente having Tottenham medical; Janssen to Swansea on loan?

Striker swap!

Tottenham Hotspur’s deadline day signing of Fernando Llorente is looking more and more likely as we careen towards the window slamming shut at 11 p.m. BST. Here’s the latest from John Percy of the Telegraph:

If you’re a Llorente fan, this is good news, but it’s still not a done deal — it certainly looks like Chelsea are trying to pull another Willian here in the dying moments.

But the other part: Janssen to Swansea City on loan? Well, that’s a shift, and if true could explain how Spurs were able to pry Llorente away from Swansea, a club that relied on him to stay up last season. If Spurs are really finished with Vincent Janssen, it would seem odd that they would be content to send him off on loan to Wales when they apparently have a £25m bid from Tony Pulis and West Bromwich Albion, but if that was a condition of the Llorente sale then it would make more sense.

Presumably any loan for Janssen would include an option to buy, and would also be contingent on Swansea staying in the Premier League next season. But the signs are pointing to Big Vince not wearing a Spurs shirt as of tomorrow.
