The transfer window has slammed shut, and Marcus Edwards is still a Tottenham Hotspur player. Despite rumors saying he was due for a year away from Spurs to hone his skills, David Hytner, a senior football writer at the Guardian, says that Marcus Edwards did NOT go out on loan in the dying hours of the transfer window... but not for lack of effort.

I can’t help but think that this is a good thing. After making his Tottenham debut against Gillingham last season, he damaged his ankle ligaments and missed most of the season in recovery. He was able to get healthy just in time for the U19 European Championships, and Edwards was able to come off the bench to help England win the title.

Now he wants to fight for his place, and I can’t blame him. He’s got monster potential and a drive to succeed. Now he just needs a chance. Hopefully he gets it.
