The transfer window may be closed, but we might see yet one more move. According to the Daily Mail (I know) and their transfer ticker blog, Premier League debutants Brighton have submitted a late request just before the deadline to loan Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen for the season.

Here’s what the Mail put in their ticker:

Brighton making a last ditch attempt to sign Vincent Janssen on loan from Tottenham.

The Seagulls have until 1am to complete the paperwork over the move which of course relies on Llorente joining Spurs and Bonygoing to Swansea.

The report went up just five minutes before Spurs confirmed the signing of Fernando Llorente. If so, we might not get confirmation of Vincent’s future for another couple of hours.

Vincent actually started today’s World Cup qualifying loss to France today and there was always some question as to his future at Tottenham. Still, when we didn’t hear anything we all assumed that he was probably staying put (which wouldn’t be great news for him either).

Brighton certainly could use the help to stay in the Premier League for longer than one season. Janssen may have flopped at Spurs but there’s no reason to think that he couldn’t be a very solid footballer at another club. Now that Llorente is the new hotness, a move to Brighton might not be the worst thing in the world for Janssen. He’d certainly waltz into the starting lineup.

This is still a rumor, but we’ll find out sooner or later what Vincent’s fate will be and whether we’ll see him in a Spurs shirt again this season.
