Everton Ladies lost their first away game of the season to Birmingham City Ladies. The first half proved to be a slow start for the Blue Girls, giving up two goals, one in the 14th minute from England international Ellen White and in the 31st minute by Charlie Wellings.

The second half effort was much more promising. Chloe Kelly, Everton striker on loan from Arsenal, scored with an assist from Courtney Sweetman-Kirk only 54 seconds into the second half. Sweetman-Kirk had a few shots on goal which required exceptional saves from Birmingham’s keeper.

The stats show that Everton improved a lot since last week’s season opener against Liverpool. The Blue Girls had 49% possession, took 9 shots, and gave up 15 shots against Birmingham. Against Liverpool, they had 38% possession, took 5 shots, and gave up 25 shots.

The next game for Everton Ladies is sure to be a tough one. They play Manchester City Saturday at 7:00 pm. The 2016 WSL champions recently beat Arsenal Women 5-2.

The good news is that you can watch Saturday’s game on FA WSL’s Facebook page!!!!!!!!!!
