Two former Bundesliga managers top Everton’s manager search

Latest rumours from the German media house Sports Bild are saying that Everton have two former Bundesliga managers in their sights.

Carlo Ancelotti was let go by Bayern Munich a few weeks ago following a string of poor results. The Italian had reportedly said at the time that he would be taking the rest of the season off to assess his options.

However, the newspaper reports that though Ancelotti wants to get involved in a new club, he would like to get back his long-time assistant Paul Clement back, which could prove tricky considering Clement is now in charge at Swansea City.

Following the protracted battle with the Swans over Gylfi Sigurdsson, the last thing Everton want is to have to talk to the Welsh club again.

The other name mentioned is Thomas Tuchel, who left his post at Borussia Dortmund days after the end of last season following a breakdown in communication between him and the BVB Board.

Everton reportedly reached out to his representation as soon as yesterday, and his agent Olaf Meinking today said -

"We will keep it as in the past also in the future: We will not comment on rumors."

Tuchel is expected to be in the running for the Bayern vacancy with Jupp Heynckes filling the role in an interim basis for the season.

Hoffenheim’s whizkid manager Julian Nagelsmann has also been linked with the job in Munich, but we could easily see him tapped by Everton should Tuchel replace Heynckes.

Nagelsmann has been linked with West Ham United recently following the struggles of Slaven Bilic, so it will cause some mirth if the Blues were to step in ahead of the London club as happened more than a few times over the summer with transfer targets.

However, the 30-year-old manager who has been nothing short of miraculous in his two-year-managerial career, apparently has a standing offer to join Bayern when he’s ready. Nagelsmann represents a sizable risk considering his small body of work, but is also the kind of high-risk, high-reward manager who would really shake up the way Everton play the game.
