The Toffees miserable run in the League Cup (or whatever they call it every year) continued again this season as they were dumped out in the Fourth Round today.

Chelsea dominated the game in the first half and pressed Everton into their own half for most of the 45 minutes. The Blues had to resort to long balls which were easily handled by the much taller hosts. Anton Rudiger then put them up in the 26th minute with an easy header, as he stood unmarked in the box from a short corner.

Everton were a different proposition in the second half, sparked by youngster Beni Baningime making a clattering challenge or two and generally asserting himself very well for a young lad making his debut.

Despite creating a number of chances though, it looked like the Toffees were destined for another loss as Willy Caballero made a number of impressive saves and then the crossbar foiled late substitute Ademola Lookman.

Willian, easily the best player on the pitch, then killed it off in time added on with a sensational shot to put the game beyond doubt. Dominic Calvert-Lewin then scored even later, but it was too little too late.
