Dyche has a cheap Burnley release clause if he wants Everton switch

If Everton’s interest in Sean Dyche is indeed real, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to get the manager the Blues want as long as Dyche himself is willing to make the switch.

The price to prise him away from Turf Moor has been revealed by the Mirror as a very reasonable* £2.5 million (*In the world where Ronald Koeman was being paid £5m or £6m, it certainly is).

Burnley chairman Mike Garlick acknowledged today that it would be indeed difficult to hold on to Dyche if teams came knocking on the door ready to spend whatever it took.

“That’s the price of success I guess. The more success we get, the more people are going to look at him. But we look after him well and we hope he’s going to be here for a long time.”

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live earlier, he added that the Clarets were not actively seeking to replace Dyche if he left right away.

“It’s not something we are thinking about right now. There’s one person on our list and that’s Sean Dyche.

“We hope that continues for a long time, another five years hopefully.”

Dyche signed with Burnley in October 2012, taking them up to the Premier League at the first time of asking, but was relegated the following season before bringing the Clarets back again. Despite losing two key players in Michael Keane and Andre Gray, he has his scrappy bunch of players sitting in seventh place with most of the top six terrified to play them.

While his original contract had him on £420,000 a year, he was given a rumoured five-year deal in February 2016 with a raise to £2.5m per year. If indeed his release clause is just £2.5m, then he could be in for a hefty pay hike should he choose to switch to Everton.
