His latest comments will have Watford worried

It appears Everton’s pursuit of Marco Silva to become their next permanent manager is far from over, despite what Watford FC might think having turned down two offers for the Portuguese manager.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Hornets’ game tomorrow against West Ham United, Silva refused to speak directly about the Everton job, but at the same time appeared to not dismiss it out-of-hand either.

"What I can tell you about this situation is I look at this situation like for some players when they play well, or somebody that the coach wants from another club.

"For me, now this is a case for the board and the owners to discuss the situation. For me it is a normal situation, I understand the question.

“I respect what Everton want, I respect how Watford answer. This is the only true way when you have this type of situation, the clubs need to talk. I can't control this situation."

When asked if he was indeed interested in talking to Everton, he deftly sidestepped from answering -

"I don't answer this question. I read many many things in the week. I need to talk with my owner, my board and my players as well. I do my job normally during the week.

"I don't want to talk about Everton. I am here to talk about the West Ham match. If you want to talk to me about Everton, it's not the club where I work."

Portuguese daily A Bola reported on the manager in their Friday edition, going on to state that Silva would be happy to make the move to Goodison Park should Watford come to an agreement with Everton, saying that the Blues could imminently make an offer that the Viacarage Road side could not refuse.

Watford’s ownership and fans can certainly be concerned with the lack of Silva’s outright refusal regarding the Everton position. The manager cannot at the same time be seen to be leading the Toffees on while still in charge at Watford, which could lead to alienation from the fanbase.

Stay tuned Blues, more to come on this Silva business.
