Big loan bid for Everton attacking midfielder

Davy Klaassen finds himself out in the cold at Everton just months after a £25million transfer with a five-year contract. The former Ajax Amsterdam captain and Holland international is not short of suitors, and Turkish giants Fenerbahce are the latest to come looking for him.

As reported by Turkish outlet Haber3, Fener have made a €2.5million loan offer for the attacking midfielder to be honoured during the January transfer window. The report says Fenerbahce Administrative Manager Hasan Çetinkaya met with Everton officials, and are expecting an answer back from the Blues very soon.

Klaassen has struggled in the few appearances he’s made for the Toffees, looking slow on the ball and cumbersome in transition. The Dutchman has featured in eleven games picking up just the one assist in his eight starts. The qualities of incisive pass distribution and making late attacking runs into the box that he has earned a reputation for have barely been seen in the royal blue this season.

Along with Sandro Ramirez, Klaassen could be one of the biggest transfer market mistakes the Toffees made over the summer. There appears to be no redemption for either under interim manager David Unsworth, despite the pair being involved in training on a daily basis. The imminent return of Ross Barkley and Yannick Bolasie further jeopardizes their future.

With little need for a large squad after being dumped out of the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, Everton could probably afford to let Klaassen go out on loan to get in game shape and hopefully even regain some of his old form.
