Watford name their price for Marco Silva - How much is too much?

What next for Farhad Moshiri in his quest to make Marco Silva Everton’s permanent manager? The Toffees have made Watford FC two big bids to break the manager’s existing contract, the latest being £10million.

However, the Mirror are reporting that the Pozzo family, the owners of the Hornets, are actually holding out for £15million. With Moshiri holding out for Silva, there have been no offers made to Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche, and David Unsworth continues as interim manager. Unsy has stated that no term was made known to him when he was asked to step in as caretaker. However, five games have now gone by since Ronald Koeman was sacked and there is still no official news from the club regarding the manager role.

What we have seen about Moshiri so far is that the man gets whoever he sets his heart on. Koeman had initially stated is intention to stay at Southampton, but was eventually swayed by a hefty paycheck and deep transfer kitty.

Silva apparently is already interested in joining the Blues, seeing potential in the overall existing project plus the large transfer coffers supposedly available. Every man has a price, and as we discovered this summer with the pursuit of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Moshiri is not afraid to pay out when he wants to. Haggling over an additional £5million when he shelled out over £150million in the transfer market seems petty. Besides, preventing any long-term trauma in the players’ psyche, especially the younger ones, is surely worth more than a measly £5million.
