Gylfi Sigurdsson transfer could have two sets of add-ons

One of the biggest problems with Everton’s performance against Stoke City over the weekend was the utter lack of any creative ideas or outlet. Much of the game was spent with Wayne Rooney dropping into midfield, or Michael Keane just hoofing long balls towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

As such, completing the transfer of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City will have become an even bigger priority for Ronald Koeman, and according to the Mail, the deal may - may - finally be reaching its conclusion, with some stipulations.

Everton are closing in on a £45million agreement with Swansea City for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Goodison Park club are proposing £40m up front with two lots of £2.5m in add-ons.

Sigurdsson has told Swansea he wishes to leave and join Everton and is now waiting on the club's owners to give the transfer the all-clear.

What the extra bonuses are is unclear at this time, but it’s likely that they are performance-based.

It’s not exactly a secret that Everton’s upcoming stretch of games is a veritable murderer’s row, or that the club desperately need new signings despite the busy summer thus far.

Letting the Sigurdsson ordeal drag on till August 31 would be an enormous mistake for Everton. At this point, if the club is haggling over a few million pounds, that’s directly hurting them on the field.
