Everton linked with another Croat attacking midfielder?

The transfer rumour machine doesn’t stop chugging along even with the transfer window firmly closed for another few months. What’s worse is, when Ronald Koeman fins his Everton side so chock-full of central attacking midfielders that they’re getting in each other’s way, the media goes out and links the Blues with.. guess what.. another central attacking midfielder!

Today it’s the turn of another young Croatian star who has been catching the eye of scouts and fans alike - Lovro Majer. The 19-year-old is much in the same vein as another young Croat that Everton just signed, Nikola Vlasic, but is not as polished as the former Hajduk Split player.

Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX claim that there are multiple clubs in the mix for the youngster, with Everton, Sampdoria, Atletico Madrid and Celtic leading the way, while Watford, Sevilla, Nice and Lille lurk as well. There is a possibility that the player could be sold in January and then loaned back to his club.

Local powerhouse Dinamo Zagreb have a good relationship with the smaller NK Lokomotiva and are expected to take on the youngster who already has made his Croatia senior team debut despite having featured in only three youth internationals.

Majer banged in 5 goals to go with 13 assists in 31 games for Lokomotiva, winning the Croatian First Football League young player of the season award. The club are based in the capital city of Zagreb and just missed out on qualifying for European competition this season.

The attacker is off to a flying start this season already, scoring four goals in just eight games though Lokomotiva are struggling with just seven points in those games.

Considered to be a classic #10 with good vision, he still has some development ahead of him, and even if the Toffees were to take a €1 million gamble on the player in the winter transfer window, he would likely go straight into David Unsworth’s Under-23 squad.
