Despite there being no official confirmation of Yannick Bolasie’s status, the player appears to be very close to making a comeback for Everton following nearly eleven months out. The forward has been up and about and is training as well, doing both physical work as well as looking very comfortable on the ball.

The winger was injured in early December, suffering a cruciate ligament injury that required two surgeries, with the player only able to start his rehabilitation after the second operation.

Everton have struggled without any recognized wingers in the squad, with few players to offer width and pace. The Blues have managed just two goals in five Premier League games so far, and have looked lumbering and awkward in their build-up play even when they have the ball.

The Congo international is very active on social media, and has been dropping hints about his fitness quite often, including this a couple of days ago.

And in this video released on the player’s YouTube channel the day before, we can Bolasie going through all the regular motions as would be expected of him, without the contact of course. In it, he even adds that the original diagnosis was 10 months rather than 12, which would mean he could return on October 4th, just two weeks from now.

In his now-infamous call to Jim White on Deadline Day, Everton majority owner Farhad Moshiri reportedly said that he thought Seamus Coleman was set for an October return while Bolasie would be back in December.

Now it’s looking likely that he had the two players confused and it’s the winger who is closer to a return, even though Coleman is also training at Finch Farm and has been spotted with the ball as well.

Either way, the Blues desperately need the pair to boost their attack and kickstart the season.
