Mirallas disappointed not to return to Olympiacos

Another international break and another Belgian player complaining about leaving Everton. Haven’t we seen this movie before?

It has been a tumultuous week for Kevin Mirallas who was just over a week ago dropped from Everton’s traveling party to London for a Premier League game at Chelsea. Later, Ronald Koeman confirmed it was for disciplinary reasons.

Then Mirallas wasn’t even in Belgium’s squad to face Gibraltar despite receiving a call-up from former Everton manager and current Belgium gaffer Roberto Martinez. The Spaniard later claimed that was because he anticipated transfer deadline day activity for the player.

Now in an interview with Belgian outlet DH.be, Mirallas has spoken out about what looks like a failed move to Olympiacos during the just close transfer window.

"I really wanted to come to Olympiacos, and we tried our best to reach an agreement that would suit everyone, including President Vangelis Marinakis, who did everything possible and beyond. But Everton turned a deaf ear.

"I am so sad that I have not been home and I hope that will be the case in the near future.

“I would like to thank all Olympiacos supporters for the many messages they sent me. And they must know that I love their club and, as I said before, one day I will come back to them.”

Mirallas spent two seasons at Olympiacos before transferring to Everton five seasons ago. Comments like these are not going to endear him to the Toffees and least of all to Koeman who is already not pleased with the player.
