Pickford happy to learn from Everton veterans

Britain’s most expensive goalkeeper has not let the pressure of a pricetag get to him. Jordan Pickford, who moved to Everton from Sunderland during the summer transfer window for £30million, has settled in well at the Blues and has secured the starting XI position between the sticks.

He has shown exceptional command of his area, coming out to securely handle crosses and set pieces, as well as showing off his remarkable kicking abilities that have flipped play into the other half in a matter of seconds.

Speaking to evertonfc.com, Pickford said about his start -

“It’s been perfect. I just come in every day and get on with it. It’s a great bunch of lads here and everyone knows what we want to do as a club.

“There’s the likes of Baines and Jags – all experienced pros. They are the type of players I can learn from and get the experience as a young lad. I know I can keep getting better and the type of players I have as my teammates can help me do that, along with the gaffer and the coaching staff.

“I will learn from them, see what they do on and off the field so I can try to be the best I can be.

“I signed for Everton because I know it’s a club with ambition that wants to win silverware and it’s great to be part of it.”

Everton will be relieved to have secured the goalkeeper position for the next few years - it’s been a few years since we saw the best of Tim Howard, Nigel Martyn and Neville Southall before Pickford.
