Everton in the transfer mix for Celtic defender

David Unsworth and Ronald Koeman are constantly on the lookout for young players to add to the youth setup at Finch Farm, and that work doesn’t stop when the transfer window closes. The U23 defence looks particularly impressive - international centre backs Nathangelo Markelo and Lewis Gibson joined up this summer, to go along with existing fullbacks Callum Connolly (out on loan), Antonee Robinson (out on loan), and Jonjoe Kenny.

Given that Kenny in particular has spent time with the senior side and is likely in line for a full-time promotion, today’s report from ESPNFC that Everton are chasing a promising right back makes sense.

The target this time is Celtic FC’s Scottish defender Anthony Ralston.

Tottenham and Everton are tracking Celtic defender Anthony Ralston, sources have told ESPN FC.

Ralston, 18, is highly-regarded at Celtic Park after coming through the ranks at the Scottish champions.

A number of Premier League sides have been keeping tabs on Ralston since he impressed with Scotland at this summer's Toulon tournament, helping his country finish third and he has already been invited to train with Gordon Strachan's senior Scotland squad.

Ralston has already been loaned out in his young career - to Queens Park Rangers, in 2015 - and recently scored his first goal for Celtic’s first team in a Scottish Cup match.

This summer alone, David Unsworth has added Markelo, Gibson, Josh Bowler, Boris Mathis, and Dennis Adeniran. Of course, not all of these players will pan out, but even just one or two making their way to Goodison Park would be excellent news for the future of the Blues’. Just ask Tom Davies.
