Though he started the match on the bench, Andy Carroll made an early appearance in West Ham's 1-0 loss to Everton when he came on for Carlton Cole, who was hauled off just before the half hour mark. It was Carroll's first appearance since he was sent off for swinging his arm across the head of Swansea's Chico Flores at the start of February and as per usual for the former Liverpool striker, misfortune soon found him.
Suffering a gnarly looking dislocated finger (see below), Carroll wasn't in the mood for yet another injury during a season in which he's already recovered from a foot injury and only made six appearances.
So Carroll had the physio pop it back into place and carried on with the match, but even West Ham manager Sam Allardyce had a difficult time watching this all unfold. From PA Sport:
Of Carroll's dislocated finger, Allardyce said: "Andy didn't seem to have much trouble with the physio popping it back in for him. It made me wince but it didn't make Andy."
Once Carroll got back to the dressing room, he continued to put his damaged finger to work by sharing versions of the two pictures above on Instagram and typing out playful captions for both.
Now if he can just fire off a shot that looks like his finger did, he might nab his first goal of the season.
