Huddersfield success smells like team spirit, says Tom Ince

Ince may have overlooked Rajiv van La Parra's moment of magic just before half-time, which ultimately secured Huddersfield their fourth Premier League win of the season.

But there can be no denying the Terriers' energy and full-blooded commitment to holding on after defender Christopher Schindler had been sent off for two bookable offences early in the second period.

"You could see by the performance and the hard graft we put in when we went down to 10 men," Ince told the club's official website.

"No matter who you play at this level it's difficult with a man less and we showed the grit and determination for each other and the spirit among each other to keep a clean sheet.

"We could have gone up the other end and nicked one on the counter-attack, which shows the fitness of us all to try and see the game off before we did.

"But listen, to hold on like we did was fantastic, and the win was well deserved."

Van La Parra's brilliant curling effort clinched his side back-to-back home league wins after they had upset Manchester United in their previous encounter at the John Smith's Stadium.

Another sell-out crowd of 24,169 played its full part as the Terriers climbed back into the top 10 and Ince acknowledged their unswerving support.

"It was great again," he said. "The fans turned out and were pushing us through for the last 10 or 15 minutes.

"We have to take that energy and use our energy and not give in. We show a no-die attitude here and it was important we got that win. It's a massive three points. "

Embattled West Brom boss Tony Pulis called on all his experience to deliver a composed post-match press conference, but admitted he feared for his players' confidence.

Chants from the away end of 'Tony Pulis, your football is s**t' and 'Tony Pulis, get out of our club' had greeted him at the start of the second half.

The Baggies' winless Premier League run was extended to nine matches, stretching back to August 19 and they remain 15th in the table, two points above the relegation zone.

"What has happened is that we've continuously grown," he said. "Last year we finished in the top 10. We signed some good players.

"Unfortunately one or two have been injured and we've not been able to put our strongest team out and we haven't won games. It hasn't gone for us."

Pulis, who said the atmosphere at the John Smith's reminded him of his early days as Stoke manager, added: "Irrespective of what you've done previously, that goes out the window.

"All the supporters think about is the game that you're in today, next week, and the week after. We move on."
