My lad's good lady has presented us with identical twin boys, two weeks early at 4lb 5oz and 5lb 3oz, the bigger lad Callaghan Stuart and his wee brother Beau Francis.
Me and Liz are absolutely ecstatic.

      Nice one buddy. 👍

      Nice one Stuey, congratulations mate.

Twins, though. The thought makes me shudder.

After our second child, Satan (Logan), I'm done.

Haha know what you're saying Dave the twin's Dad and his brother put years on me, girls are a bigger worry but in a different way - still worry about her like she's a teenager.

My lad started for West Kirby Wasps under 7's just before Xmas..

Boss isn't it? They were getting battered at first and I was worrying about the whole situation with my lad but they can hold their own now. Was out with him at 9am yesterday and was soaked to the skin but all worth it as he bagged a hat trick and they won 10-1.

There is a different kind of proud with this footy stuff.

What it has taught me, though, is to get my other lad who is 21 months into it earlier as it was clear to see, when my older lad first started, what kids had played from a younger age.

Not holding out much hope with my first to be honest on the football front.  Although his ability to fall over might earn any team he plays for loads of pens.

He's got a kids set of golf clubs though - think there might be more potential there (and better holidays for me)!

There's a little lad at the soccer school I coach at on a Saturday morning, he's been going for about 9 months and he only turned 4 at Christmas :D. He's tiny but he's one of the better technically gifted players in the group. You tell some of the new older kids (max age of 6) to dribble with both feet, inside & outside of the foot and do certain turns when they get to the end cone and they're all over the place but he's the complete opposite. It's worth getting up early on a Saturday just to see the huge smile on his mum's face.

I definitely agree with getting them started as young as possible.

Would love to get mine into golf but I really don't think he has the patience to learn how to play it.

Have you tried your lad at any football training sessions or are you going off dad and lad garden/park footy?

I am sure it would help but not sure how essential it is as long as you do get them playing by the time they're 7 or 8.

Point being, I wouldn't want a parent being but off putting their child into a club or training programme just because they didn't do it when the child was younger.

No he hasn't been to any proper organised things.  There's a kids team near me that starts them when they're 5 which he'll be next month so will probably try that - see how he gets on.

Feel like being a touchline dad might be the path to an early heart attack when they get a bit older!
