I'd been thinking Joe Hart might be a decent signing.
Until that is, seeing him literally move in slow motion (remember doing that as a kid?) trying to stop two free kicks from miles away.
      Massive reality check.

I guess international football is not completely pointless :D

Mignolet saying he's a specialist in saving penalties has given me a laugh. Sure he's saved a couple, but what about the 13(?) he failed to save in the shootout vs Boro a couple of years ago?...

As a Goalkeeper myself I can categorically say there is no such thing as a Penalty specialist....unless you're taking them.
All goalkeepers get given the same type of info before a game, Who goes where, how high, how often etc etc. They make an educated guess.
Some goalkeepers get luckier than others.

Does not mean they are specialists.

Migs is a potato specialist when it comes to goalkeeping.

I'll say this about Migs, he won't stop fighting for that #1 spot. Hope he impresses.

I totally agree and have my full backing. I said it many times that he is our best keeper at the moment. The good thing is that when his form dips, we have other keepers ready to jump for their chance.

So what did you make of him today?

Pitiful performance from a pitiful player. And yet he'll probably start against Palace next week.

How has he been at the club this long? How was he signed to bin off Pepe? How does he keep getting all these chances?

I've never known a goalkeeper to have been absent of all the qualities needed to be a goalkeeper, let alone a Premier League goalkeeper. Name me ONE good thing about him. The funny one I always hear is that he's a 'good shot stopper' despite the fact that about 1 in 2 shots that gets fired at him go right past him. He's sub Premier League. Not even fit to be second choice keeper at most clubs. Truth be told - I don't want him as third choice keeper. He's a charlatan. The simpering kid who was always picked last at school during football at lunchtime and put away in goal.

And yet still the beat keeper at Liverpool.

On the plus side all 3 of them were nice and cheap though  :oranje:

But he isn't the best is he? Ward and Karius are both better. F**k, if you put Hendo in there he'd probably do better.

I could do better. I had clean sheets often when playing as goalkeeper in games where I made a lot of saves, was 7 years ago or something but I can't be any worse. He's like that person who gets shoved in goal in sports class because he's worse everywhere else on the field. How he is accepted as a goalkeeper is baffling, nevermind premier league.

Did anyone else notice how before the lads left the tunnel to go onto the pitch before the match, Migs was the one yelling back and trying to get them up for it?  Captain Henderson was in front of him of course but just looked obliviously forward the whole time.

Not that I'm suggesting that Mignolet should be the captain or something.  But apparently he's the one who gets into the other players.

You can look at every tunnel cam since he's been here, he says it every match...I think its more for himself than anybody else.

Is he still here? Said before the match it was a minor miracle. Now I'd drop the 'minor'.
