Good game from Karius as i gave him MOTM in both legs of the Southampton matches.
He still needs to improve on his ability to deal with the corners and crosses/high balls, but at least he is showing good improvement in the few games since November.

Doesn't count for anything but he did play well.

Best player over the 2 legs.

As well as Karius played over the past couple of games today was a perfect demonstration as to why he won't cut it in this league. He literally sh*t himself when the cross came for their opening goal. Any keeper worth his salt would have put their feet through that ball and taken a couple of players with him. He doesn't have a the bottle to be a keeper in the EPL.

He seems to have a habit of moving the wrong way when a ball comes his way,

Having a laugh aren't you?! He saved us from going 3-0 down with a very good stop when the offside flag should have gone up but didn't.

Also that first goal I take more issue with Gini and I think it was Gomez the other, neither of them were aware of the player going straight in between them to get on the end of it to score.

Origi. The wolves CB is directly in front (offside, not that it matters) of Origi when the free kick is taken.

Makes you wonder if the defensive setup at FKs is right if you've got their big centre half running off our striker and a short midfielder.

Not at all, it doesn't matter how good a shot stopper he is if he can't come and claims crosses and deal with the physical stuff. Isn't that the reason most of us wanted shot of Mignolet? (another very good shot stopper)

Yeah maybe I'm being a bit hard on him, I still think there are plenty of keepers who would have come for that and cleared it though. The fact he takes a few steps towards it and then thinks better of it means he is caught in no mans land and doesn't have his feet set for a save. But I was a bit harsh.

He's not the answer though and I don't understand this penchant for playing number two keepers in cup competitions? If your gonna play a back up team why not at least play your number one keeper

Bit surprised he didn't get a run yesterday. In saying that, Mignolet did OK.
Guess Jürgen has to decide between them, and feels Mignolet has the edge right now.
Or maybe he just doesn't want to keep chopping an changing keepers to end of season, to try get some continuity in the back five.

You'd have to think though this is Mignolet's last season, and that we'll bring in another keeper in the summer to completent Karius!?

Personally I kind of get the feeling that it was more to keep Karius out the firing line. We were going into this game in utter sh*te form, last thing we needed was Karius playing and potentially having both keepers completely shot of all confidence, especially when Karius has been steadily improving. Took one last gamble on Migs and as it goes it worked out and probably gave Migs a bit of a confidence boost that let's be honest, even though the next mistake wont be far off, he needed a bit of a boost.

Big opportunity for the fella today. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get the chance to make a save or two, so let's see what he's made of.

Just hope the defence give him adequate protection, Lovren and Matip are going to have their hands full with Lacazzete (who looks a proper sharp shooter) & Sanchez (if he starts).

That said, he's got another opportunity today to see if he can finally take those gloves. Good luck to him.

      Good call from the boss.

Looking at any defensive issues as stemming from lack of commanding presence between the sticks by looks of it......

Don't think Jürgen would undermine our no1 goalie like that just as the transfer window is coming to an end. He knows there is a question mark about Karius - that's why he dropped him last season. Be nuts to drop Mig from the squad and leave us hoping Karius comes good. Must be more to it.

I'm just taking it at face value mate.

Migs has been shakier this season than the end of last......time will tell.

Dropped Moreno last season too but the lad seems to have learned and has kicked on this season..

Maybe the Boss is doing a bit of psychology with certain players.

I do not agree with Karius playing today, Mignolet did not deserve to be dropped. I only agree if Simon has personal issues and his mind is not in place.

Karius, you still need to win us over. I will judge you on your contribution.

He also needs time to win us over however he hasn't been afforded that time yet
