      Agree.

The league is so poor that anyone could win it.

You just knew Wembley would be a problem for Spurs.

For a lot of players/managers this will be the first maybe only time they'll ever play there. Be hugely hyped up.

Excellent, means we can move on from a disappointing transfer window a week or 2 sooner than usual

      Not quite that clear.

      Quote
From next season, the window will close at 17:00 BST on the Thursday before the Premier League campaign begins.

The vote was not unanimous and clubs will still be able to sell players until the end of the normal window.

Fourteen Premier League clubs voted in favour of the amendment, which was the minimum total needed for the plans to be approved. Manchester United, Manchester City, Watford, Swansea and Crystal Palace voted against the proposal while Burnley abstained.

Right move, but not enough. It will still leave us in the same position - will Barcelona snatch our best player? We would still have to wait it out like we have done. Less time to buy. Same time to sell.

Glad we supported the change. Unlike Manchester..

Five clubs voted against it and to be honest they have a good reason to vote against the move. The change is going to affect only incoming signings. And, if there is a release clause, it's going to make the squad weaker. They 'hope' that the other leagues follow suit. Hope!!

Change must have been total. This is half baked and makes no sense. As its stands, it puts the PL clubs at a disadvantage. And, the league must follow Wenger's suggestion of doing away with the January transfer window.

So Clement and Maureen both publicly said they think it's a good idea, yet both of their clubs voted against it. Not surpried about Maureen and the Mancs but surprised about Swansea.

My understanding that release clauses could only be activated in the club's own transfer window.

You might have to double check on that but I'm sure that is the case and if it isn't it'll be written into future release clauses - so that's that sorted.

Yes - overseas clubs will get a slight advantage.  If a Premier League club and Barcelona are after the same player as the transfer window is approaching either the PL club goes balls deep or calls the clubs bluff - there will still be plenty of politics.

However, what it might do is shift the balance for clubs to do their business correctly and earlier.  The likes of Chamberlain swanning around with a half-shift for Arsenal last week against us - and then he joins us - I'd have been majorly pissed off if that had been the other way around.

It's a good move - plus it pisses Sky off as it closes at 5pm so it works for me!  (Also stops us doing our traditional 'buy the future flop from the World Cup after he's had 3 good games in his life').

It's hard to say for sure about release clause, in football there are often stupid rules that take a long time to fix. I think the whole transfer window needs to be when it shuts, no players in or out from our league. It is nonsense that closing incoming early but not outgoing.
