Liverpool 4-2 1899 Hoffenheim: In game and Post Match discussion
      Aug 23, 2017 06:46:45 pm

      Anfield waiting for Champions League

Starting XI: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Karius, Klavan, Gomez, Milner, Solanke, Robertson, Sturridge.

Liverpool make five changes for this evening’s Champions League play-off, second-leg clash with Hoffenheim at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah, Dejan Lovren, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Emre Can and Alberto Moreno are restored to the line-up for the encounter with the Bundesliga side.

It means Jürgen Klopp has elected to select the same starting XI he did in the first leg in Germany eight days ago.

No changes from the 1st leg.  As we suspected then- clearly prioritising qualification for the Champions League over the league game at the weekend.

Almost as if Klopp felt a bid for a potential signing must have depended on us qualifying...

Come on red men - let's put this to bed before half time so we can rest a little easier!

Hopefully Moreno doesn't go walk about, thought Robertson done enough to start.

Moreno clearly first choice left back, absolutely F***ing mental that.

Should be enough to get the job done. Hopefully we get off to a fast start, can see it getting very dodgy if we concede the first goal.

No issues here with the same squad that got us 2-1 on the road...manager going with the squad that got us to this point...no reason to change it all up.

I think Gini suffers from not having a player like Coutinho/Lallana in the midfield.  Creative and penetrating passes isn't his strong suit, so when he is asked to play in the more advanced role he is a bit out of his element.  When he can sit deep and focus on ball retention, cutting passing lanes, and providing balance to the team, he is a much more effective player.

      That's a bit too hopeful...

Clearly, this game is more important than a one off league game. Lose this, no Champions League. Lose a PL game, and there's plenty more yet to make up for it. Simples..

Can and Hendo in Midfield worry me, as does Moreno playing full stop. That aside, I'm confident of progressing. 2-0 Mane and Salah with the goals.

Fingers crossed he has a blinder, as do the back 4, TAA on the other hand can cement a place for years to come IMO.

I'll be able to watch the first half at work, since they'll show it during lunchtime, still have to figure out what to do for the second half.

Still think it'll go 3-1, come on you Redmen!!

Yep, I said 2-0 in the predictions, and am sticking to that. Roll on CL group draw.

Cannot believe Moreno is back in for this. You do realise this is massive for our season Jürgen? f***in hell.

Would've stuck with Klavan instead of Lovren n all, but Moreno is too risky for this game.

Agreed, although I'd doubted Moreno in midweek when I saw Robertson play there I can't recommend more highly the post that Danzel put in the Moreno thread. Made me realise some things that I don't think I'd been giving Alby nearly enough credit for. Granted the little bugger could come and throw that all in my face tonight but I can understand it from Klopp's point of view.

Robbo had an easy time against a team that wouldn't attack him, Hoff certainly will, time for Alberto to show his worth.

How can you be sure Robertson is any less riskier, he has never played in a European game and come to think of it we have not even seen him tested yet.
