Lots of pace in the Arsenal team with Sanchez, OX, Bellerin and Wellbeck up against that back 5....worrying.

Klopp confirmed that Mignolet is "rested". Is this codeword Barcelona are wanting to sign him?  :lmao:

F**k me, not looking forward to this :( And we need to watch out for Ramsey's late runs, seems to have a knack for scoring against us.

Klopp: "Simon is rested, that is all. He won the race and was really strong for us but we need the other two boys (Loris Karius and Danny Ward) also. For a goalkeeper it's a different intensity. He is in the stadium, we had no argument and I told him a rest makes sense."

Jürgen Klopp on decision to rest Simon Mignolet v Arsenal

Jürgen Klopp has explained why Simon Mignolet has not been included in Liverpool’s matchday squad for today’s clash with Arsenal, revealing he has opted to rest the goalkeeper.

Loris Karius has been given the nod to begin the contest for the Reds, with Danny Ward named on the substitutes’ bench.

Klopp said: “[It is] to rest him, that’s all. Four games in a very short term, for a goalkeeper especially.

“He didn’t want to rest, it’s not a problem. We spoke yesterday about it and I really thought it made sense, especially because we have the quality in behind.

“It is just because I want to let him have a rest after this really intense time with really good performances for us.

“But with the other boys, we wanted a situation like this; we wanted to have three strong goalkeepers. They’ve shown up in training, they are really ambitious, they want to have game time, they want to have games, so today Loris is starting.”

That back line scares the sh*t out of me but our frontline scares the sh*t out of them,

Who dares wins, whoever scores more wins the 3pts.....

....my head says 3-1  but it could 6-5 ....

Wenger is reported as seeing us the easiest team to overcome for Arsenal to get back into the Champions league. We have to lay down a marker today to make a mockery of such talk.

Interesting this because there's more to it than a 'rest', is it Karius pushing and this is Jürgen's way to keep him happy, or is it based on form?

I hear Mignolet wants talks with Jürgen in the next few days, not sure how I feel about that because on the one hand he's seemingly been dropped (I don't buy rested when it comes to a 'keeper) so would want clarity, but on the other hand he has no god given right for the jersey either, just win it back, Karius has been trying to do that for months now. There's no reason Simon should be treated differently, but there's something in this that suggests there's more to it.

Personally, Karius was harshly treated by the media, his mistakes were nowhere near as bad as they were blown up to be and for a new lad starting out in a new league I thought that was way over the top. I hope he can come in and prove them all wrong because I believe he's a very good keeper that just needs a run of games to build his confidence up. In terms of distribution and sweeping it's night and day where those two are, shot stopping I think Karius is better but he has to prove it for us, it's his ability to handle crosses and command his box which has me most worried and hopefully that's now been sorted.

The shock one for me is Gomez keeping his place ahead of Trent, but in this match, especially with the likes of Ozil/Sanchez lurking around that side I can certainly understand the need to be more sound at the back defensively. I believe we're going to smash these as long as the lads in the middle have decent performances, we can't afford any passengers in the engine room today or that's where we'll be punished.

5-0 Bobby hat-trick, Mane and Salah with the others :D
