People also forgetting that winning this gets you into Europe. 5 wins and you get a Europa League spot and a trophy.
      Not bad work.
Now unless our Hail Marys start working we aren’t winning jack this year and 4th is a pipe dream not even Super Mario can fix

      Same old.

No cutting edge to finish off our chances in what was actually a very good first half. Ran out of steam in the second, and duly gifted them a goal.

Solanke had some very nice touches and looks a good player, but is on a learning curve and part of that is learning to gamble on balls coming across the face of goal. We had half a dozen or so really nice ones curled across from Robertson and Cotinho in the first half and nobody gambled.

Bad decision to take off Coutinho, our creativity basically went off with him.

      Ox and Grujic were poor.

Ward looked good with the little he had to do.

In defence of our CBs for the first goal, the rest of the team just went charging off once the initial clearance was made. Leicester left players up and Klavan and Gomez were outnumbered.

Anyway, one way or another we seem to find a way to fail to win while following basically the same pattern. The opposition don't have to do anything other than hang in there and defend until we hand them a goal.

I think it's one of those moments when the manager needs to just do defensive organisation drills for about a fortnight to try and get it sorted out, otherwise our season is going to go tits up before it's even started.

This is exactly why I don't watch games, they get your hopes up, and whist your not looking, they've shat in your pants.

      F***ing useless.

You dont watch games? Really?

Not as bad a performance as people will try to tell you, but the problem was we had a few passengers we couldn't continue to carry.

Ward: Nothing he could do with a deflected goal and a wonder strike. Other than that I thought he did very well indeed, some great claims, one in particular amazing one and superb distribution. 6

Robertson: Did well, great crosses and what defending he had to do was done reasonably well. Didn't think he was really at fault for either of their goals and did his chances of first team footy no harm. 7

Klavan: Shame, had a good first half but was at fault for both their goals. Didn't get back in and do his job properly on the first and decided to wrestle rather than defend on the second. 5

Gomez: Gutted for him because he played superb in that first half, was a contender for MotM in that first half to be honest but has to take the lion's share of the blame for the first goal due to poor offside positioning and can't let his man just run past him and shoot so easily. Showed he has bags of pace early on with a closing down of their keeper, use the same pace to recover lad. 5

Flanno: All heart, no quality unfortunately. Actually felt sorry for him while watching him. 5

Henderson: Thought he was superb in the first half and still decent in the second but don't think he had any help from the 4 around him (Gini/Grujic completley and Klavan/Gomez 2nd half). 7.5

Grujic: Shocking, contender for worst player on the pitch but lucky for him we had someone even worse. No idea how he stayed on the pitch, Jürgen appears to have got this one wrong judging him on this alone. Shame as he's looked so much better in friendlies but when it comes to competitive footy this was diabolical. 3

Gini: Slowed us down far too often in that first half, we had overlaps all over the place and it even resulted in Jürgen screaming at him at one point because you've got to keep the tempo in the game when you're dominating not take it out of it every single time as he was. Thought it was a poor showing from him. 5

Coutinho: Started sh*te, got better and better as the half went on, but was only on for a half and should have done better with a couple of his chances. 5

AOC: One of the single worst displays I've ever seen from a player, it was as if he was wearing someone else's legs let alone socks. Absolutely couldn't pass a ball, shoot a ball, cross a ball, take a corner, surprised he managed to walk off in the right direction. 2

Solanke: Love him, should have scored though and has to be more clinical but the lad is quality, real future ahead of him but these are the games you have to dominate Dom because you've now done yourself out of a few more chances this season. 7

Woodburn: Awesome, looked a class apart when he came on and if he'd been on the whole game like that he'd have walked the MotM vote. 7

Ings: Thought he looked sharper than I expected him to but wasn't really given that long to make an impression.

Klopp: Will be gutted and hasn't got what he deserved but in truth I thought he left Grujic and AOC on for far too long (well never took them off), to me that was a sign that he wasn't really that interested in this competition because even a blind man could see how poor they were playing so he preferred to give them minutes than give us a boost. Will take it in the neck for that and deservedly so, don't think you should chuck the towel in on a cup competition so to speak at the expense of such small rewards but it is what it is. Could have easily been 3 or 4 up in that first half though and none of that would have been considered.

Shame, the doom mongers will be all over it, but as I said at the top it was nowhere near as bad as you'll be told.

To be honest Luke I thought Hendo was complete w*nk.

The youngsters have this competition to get game time and they blew it. Can't imagine them getting many games now this season.
The less is said about Klavan and Flanagan the better.
Woodburn the only one who looked like trying.
      F***ing embarrassing.
Well this was the competition were they could have had more game time so you're right they blew it. Henderson, Grujic and Ox Chamberlain dreadful tonight and Solanke doesn't look like a striker who's going to get many goals. Not even going to mention the defence because they are the best around

      That was a F***ing embarrassment.
We didn't even test their goalkeeper at all despite all that possession.
You can chew over your stats all night long but it means jack sh*t.
Chamberlain played and is playing like Ibe used to, he even F***ing looks like him.
      Flannagan was useless.
Why the F**k Solanke ended up on the left wing is beyond me and I just don't understand why he brought Coutinho off at all.

Should've been 5-0 up at half time, instead we go and throw it away and concede two twatty goals in the shittiest of style that only we could manage.

We'll probably turn up again and beat them on Saturday

Only seen the 2nd half but have the following comments

Ward-What is this witchcraft coming to the edge of his area and catching the ball. Obviously ignored everything Achterburg has taught him thank God

Robertson-good going forward wrong side for first goal

Klavan- hit and miss as usual

Gomez-At fault for first goal but young and in new position otherwise looked steady

Flanno-sorry but his day has passed. Even miss times his rugby tackle

Gini-looked lively till the goalie took him out

      AOC-nothing to report

Grujic-full of passion, signs of skill and signs of inexperience in equal measure. No surprise as he rarely gets a game

Hendo-couldnt shine amongst kids, misfits and the wholly unfit-says it all for me.

      Ings-tried hard

Solanke-full of effort will come good

To be honest Luke I thought Hendo was complete w*nk.

Got that impression in the match thread off you mate and I'm usually one of his biggest critics. I totally get that he could have done more, but I also think in the first half he was excellent, really gave us that tempo we needed, pinged every pass and drove us on without over doing it. In that first half I thought it was Gini who slowed us down and Grujic that just constantly did nothing other than get in other people's way.

Second half I thought again his passing was very good but you can't legislate for your CBs doing what ours did for the 2 goals. Maybe he was at fault for the first as I haven't seen the full replay but whatever it shows the lion's share will always be Gomez's because the offside trap was set and he just let 3 of Leicester's players out the cage and they killed us for that stupidity. Second goal, again I didn't see Hendo involved, saw a throw-in with one of our CBs pushed on wrestling and the other unable to catch Slimani when given plenty of time to do so and Flanno just basically asleep on the far side waving his arms around but truth be told I'm not too worried about Jon as he'll never get a game for us again imo.

Maybe I'm wrong mate but I thought he played well.

Every fibre of my body wants to make a "box" joke......

      But I won't.

Ward and Robbo did everything asked of them well.

Central defence and Flanno not good enough. Boss upset the balance of the team - desperate to rest Cou and pushed Woodburn into Robertson's space. Bad decision tonight. Why Solanke ended up there as well I've no idea.

Well we’d better nick the CD off someone's Mum and send it over to him before January.

Always dissapointing to go out of a Cup but this was the least of our priorities. What any one says or thinks this game highlighted we don't have the squad to fight on too many fronts and for me League and CL takes priority.

The Scouse Cafu oh dear, he is completely out of his depth at this sort of level.

Poor showing from the Ox but it's early days and when you have confusion from the likes of the Captain he can be forgiven for not knowing where he should be operating.

Woodburn had some nice touches but Coutinho going off meant we lost all control of that midfield and gave impetus to Leicester knowing we had no pace to hit them on the break.

Solanke again like Woodburn showing he is not ready to be a starter yet, some nice touches but zero threat in the box and in fact had two half decent chances which he fluffed, compare to Leicester.

      Grujic ditto.

I think sometimes we are too harsh on the defence, both of those goals tonight was down to the poor positioning and switching off from our DM and Captain.
Imagine if Moreno had done that, I'm not going to be too harsh because as I have said before it's not his fault as he is not a DM. Down to Klopp

In fact you can probably go back to many of the goals we have conceded it's because usually the second ball or knock is exactly where the DM mops up, or stops the attack before its onto the back 4.

Only positive was Ward should be given a chance as the first choice keeper.

Sorry to pull you up on just this point mate, but how did Woodburn show he isn't ready to be a starter. On that showing I'd having starting our next game ahead of Gini without a second thought. He wont because rather than being impulsive like me I suspect Jürgen will take it slowly, slowly but in terms of talent and ability at this time he was a class apart from anyone in that second half.

Hendo was w*nk mate, the first goal after Flanno got beat in the air and the ball is knocked across the edge of the box that is Hendo's zine to patrol as the DM

Second goal again so weak and completely out of position that Grujic was the only one who could have challenged Slimani but was on a yellow.
