Pretty much nails it for me.

One criticism I have (probably an unfair criticism in all honesty) is that I kind of expected Klopp to take advantage of his knowledge of the Bundesliga and his allure as a top class manager to recruit top, young German talent.  Jürgen is one of the only top German managers at club level, so I had hoped we would see some of those players headed to Anfield.  Goretzka is definitely one we should be all in for.  I'd suggest Ozil too -- some will say he's overrated, but I think he'd thrive in our team picking out the runs of Mane and Salah.

Goretzka I'd like to see. Re Ozil, He would see their runs and play a great ball, but only if he can be bothered to do the work to win the ball in the first place. He seems to go missing fairly often on the industry front. Doubt he and Klopp would get on too well.

                                                               New GK  (Karius)

Clyne (TAA)       Matip (Gomez)        New CB (cover)     Robertson (cover)

                                               Keita  (Wijnaldum)   New CM (Grujic)

Mane (ox)                        Lallana (Firmino)                Salah  (cover)

                                                               New CF (Solanke)

Whats noticeable, and worrying, to me is that we need a whole new spine.  We need a GK if Karius can't prove himself, somebody to partner Matip, a big tall powerful CM to boss play with Keita and a world class forward too.

Well-stated post. I like your long-term team, pasted here, except I would include Bobby in there somewhere (which you said when you mentioned him).

At last, finally and not before time Jürgen is starting to realise that the players he has inherited from TPM are simply not at a level nor will reach the level needed to compete at the top table domestically or in Europe, there are exceptions of course but they are few and far between,

Coutinho, Lallana, Can (?)  add, Mane, Bobby, Salah, Matip, Clyne, Gini , the rest are squad players at best with some not given enough game time to prove otherwise,

Outs, Migs, Lovren, Ings, Divock, Klavan, ...

Squad player at best......Hendo, Milner, Sturridge, Karius, Chamberlain.......to be phased out

      Ins....GK(Butland/Leno ?  VVd, + a other , Weigl, Draxler, that lad from Sevilla 9, can't remember his name 😁,
A top class striker as in ..Aubamuyang and one or two other quality individuals that will take us up a notch or 5 !

That's just the first part ....and if truth be told should have already been completed imo,

Its a cold hard fact that the summer window was abysmal and we are now feeling the effects not just in lack of quality but mentally we look shot,

I don't expect to see many come in the winter window but i do expect at least 6/7 new faces by August '18'

For me its now a sh*t or bust season for too many of our underachieving player's, players who are simply not going to take us forward, so we need to start weeding them out gradually starting from now,

I hope Jürgen has realised finally he needs to get ruthless and start upsetting one or two that may be too comfortable, I hope he has been sharpening his axe and is ready to start swinging!

I get your point, and Jürgen would probably agree wirh you.  I just feel like we have a lot of industry already in the side, but not enough real quality.  Barcelona rarely have a team full of grafters, but they tend to win a lot because they are overflowing with talent and ability.  If given the choice, I'd rather be lopsided with too much talent and not enough industry than the other way around....

      NB: Team no longer available

I'd like to see Solanke given some proper minutes.
And I'd like Mignolet and Lovren nowhere near the team.

Put Ward and Woodburn on the bench.

Yes, we should be looking for both. Mascherano comes to mind. Tough as nails and that's often the first thing people think of with him, but he could play. Naby Keita will be a great reminder of that when he comes in next season.

Hate watching us lose, and lose badly, but it's that kind of thrashing (without the excuse of a player sent off) that has to be a lightbulb moment for Klopp. He's loyal and he obviously loves his players, but it's time for change and it's early enough in the season to do it (and plan for that January window) in order to salvage something and still play for a top four place.

Can has to be benched. Obviously had his head turned. He's already pulled his pants down for Juventus with that 'it would be an honour' quote. It might be the best thing to play Lovren again next match (get straight back on the bike, etc.) because he couldn't possibly put in another performance as woeful as that against Spurs. But I reckon this guy doesn't have the mental strength. His confidence is utterly bollocksed. Needs to spend time on the bench. Gomez and Matip in the centre for me. I'd give Woodburn, TAA, Solanke and Brewster more game time too. And what has Robertson got to do to get a game? Moreno has improved, but he always looks like a cat trying to run away from a firework rammed up its shi**er. Yes there's inexperience in those young players, but at the moment experience isn't winning us games. Let's give youth its chance. Hunger and ambition. It would be nice to see a bit of that in the team instead of all this downing tools, flirting with Barca and running down of contracts.

How about we put in a bid for Luke Shaw....? for what ever reason Jose does not fancy him... Would not be the first time Jose has made that mistake...Did it with De Bruyne and Mata

Also like the look of James Tarkowski... Maybe part trade (Klavan) and some cash and Lovren plus cash for VVD

Don't expect any real movement before the Summer window, these three would be nice

I too think Tarkowski looks a superb defender, mate, and if you look around the mid/lower league teams there are a few who look good, probably because they get plenty of practice at defending and play for clubs which live or die on the back of their defences!  Unlike ours who spend 99% of games tapping the ball 10 yards to each other and then forget what they're job is when the opponents get the ball.

Shaw is a sad case, he looked immense a few years ago at Southampton, and broke into the England side where he did very well for a few games.  Then he went to the Munts and got fat.  Lots of public flak from his bosses about his attitude.  He made a comeback last year, but broke his leg in a Euro game.  Its been a difficult few years for the kid, and I really hope he comes back to form and fitness and ends up at a decent club under a decent manager.  We could do worse than bring him in if/when he does get his game back together, but I think we've got much bigger holes to fill than left back at the moment.
