The trademark of great Arsene Wenger teams of the past was their away form as opponents used to be scared of them.

These days Arsenal have fallen so far that no-one is afraid of them, they have become a soft touch on the road because of their lack of heart and organisation.

Wenger’s men were so bad at the Liberty Stadium that you wonder if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will have a last minute change of heart on signing for Arsenal and get on the first plane back to Dortmund.

Arsenal have managed just three wins - at Burnley, Everton and Crystal Palace - from 13 away games this season and this was as bad as any of the abject defeats they have suffered elsewhere.

They were quite simply awful as they produced yet another lacklustre, lame display which has largely been the story of their season as the top four looks further away than ever. Arsenal were shocking in defence, woeful in midfield and Swansea had far more heart passion and as they showed the sort of never-say-die spirit needed to stay up.

Incredibly, Swansea’s new boss Carlos Carvalhal has inspired his team to ten points from their last 15 which has lifted them out of the relegation zone and instilled some much needed belief in his players.

Arsenal, meanwhile, were a team lacking in every department as they were vulnerable defensively, weak in midfield and toothless in attack.

Wenger’s men lived up to every stereotype of not fancying it on a cold, wet Tuesday night, although this was Swansea rather than Stoke.

Petr Cech’s horrendous error on Swansea’s second goal will be highlighted and yet you could pick away from at least another half a dozen basic mistakes as the underlying reason for their lame surrender.

Arsenal do not look like a team, more like a group of strangers who were taken apart by Swansea thanks to their pace and movement while Sam Clucas easily the best player on the pitch as he scored twice.

Wenger does not have a midfield anchorman - Jack Wilshere was missing through illness - and that left them wide open for Swansea to run at a feeble looking defence.

Why Wenger is buying another striker on top of another attacking midfielder in Henrikh Mkhitaryan is anyone’s guess because they desperately need another defender and a midfielder with real presence.

You could tell straight away Arsenal were not up for it and even their 33rd minute opener was against the run of play as Mesut Ozil’s cross found Nacho Monreal at the back post as he provided a brilliant first time finish.

But Arsenal could barely hold their lead for a minute after some typically shambolic defending. Ozil easily muscled off the ball, Granit Xhaka lost his runner and Alfie Mawson’s through ball put Clucas away before he fired past Cech.

You expected Arsenal to improve after the break and Wenger brought on Mkhitaryan in the 60th minute for his debut after deeming he was not sharp enough to start. Mind you, that was no excuse for the rest of them.

But Arsenal’s night went from bad to worse after 62 minutes. Monreal got a rollicking from Wenger for letting the ball go out of play, the throw-in then put Arsenal under pressure as Shkodran Mustafi passed back to Cech.

Cech then made a terrible mess of it, his mis-kick presenting the ball to Ayew who smashed home a second before more abject Arsenal defending allowed Clucas to squeeze home a third at the near post in the 87th minute.
