Arsenal have made a rather embarrassing mistake in their Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang announcement, suggesting that he is only their second January signing.

The Gunners revealed that the Gabon striker has joined the club on a long-term contract for a club record fee, expected to be £56million.

Aubameyang has long been a target for Arsene Wenger's side and is expected to fill the void left by Alexis Sanchez, who moved to Manchester United last week.

The transfer will likely see Olivier Giroud move to Chelsea and Michy Batshuayi head to Borussia Dortmund.

Despite Arsenal stating Aubameyang is Arsenal's second January signing, the 28-year-old is actually their third.

Konstantinos Mavropanos joined at the start of the window for £1.8million, and has since trained with the first team and made the bench for Arsenal's 0-0 Carabao Cup draw against Chelsea.

And former Dortmund team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan signed for the club last week.

It is expected Aubameyang will take the vacant 14 squad number.
