Arsene Wenger has finally revealed what it was about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that convinced him to sign the Gabon international.

The striker completed his move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract for a club-record fee on Deadline Day.

The 28-year-old - who joins in a transfer worth £56million - becomes the Gunners' third signing of the January transfer window.

Arsenal manager Wenger had accepted getting the Aubameyang deal over the line would prove "complicated", with Dortmund believed to want assurances over a replacement.

But the north London club announced on their website on Wednesday morning that the deal had been sealed, "subject to the completion of regulatory processes".

Wenger then revealed what it was about the Gabon that caught his eye, after both clubs official confirmed that the deal had gone through.

"Yes, it is good news. We need people who can give us more offensive power," said the Arsenal boss.

"At the moment, we aren't enough going forward and I am convinced he will give us that.

"He has a big challenge in front of him. He wants to do well in the Premier League.

"It is absolutely good news for us.

"His pace, his finishing. The quality of his runs. His huge physical capacity, that will be important in the Premier League."
