Chelsea have beaten Norwich in a penalty shoot-out to win their FA Cup third-round replay at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had Pedro and Alvaro Morata sent off in extra-time as the teams finished level at 1-1 after 120 minutes.

Penalties from Willian, David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, N'Golo Kante and Eden Hazard took Chelsea through to a fourth-round home tie against Newcastle, to be played on January 28.

There were another two third round replays tonight, with two Premier League sides in action.

Swansea knocked out Championship leaders Wolves at the Liberty Stadium, with a trip to Notts County the prize for them.

But Bournemouth bowed out of the competition after being thumped 3-0 at League One side Wigan.

RED CARD! Morata sent off!

Morata goes down in the box, very soft.

The referee gives the dive and then Morata gets an immediate second yellow card for his complaints.

What drama!

Chelsea down to nine men - with two of their forwards not on the pitch!

Two added minutes at the end of extra-time here.

Norwich hanging on... but wait!

Morata has been sent off for two very quick yellows!

RED CARD! Pedro sent off

Chelsea will finish this game with 10 men.

Pedro is sent off for a second bookable offence.

His first booking came for diving and there is no debate about this one.

An easy decision for the referee.

SO CLOSE!

Zappacosta whips in a perfect cross for Morata, who heads towards goal.

Gunn gets down and despite a slight fumble, it stays out and Norwich remain level.

Norwich are getting very, very close to penalties.

You do fear that that is their best chance of securing victory.

Can they hold out Chelsea for 10 more mins? Only time will tell.

The game is being played exclusively in Norwich’s half right now.

Another huge chance for Chelsea.

Morata turns and his shot hits Pinto - and Pedro can’t quite get on the end of it.

Chelsea pushing.

We go again.

Fifteen more minutes to decide this one.

Or we will be on out way to penalties!

HT in ET it remains 1-1

All square at the halfway point of extra-time.

A change of ends and we will be back underway.

No doubt the VAR referral will be the big talking point.

HUGE CHANCES FOR CHELSEA!

Well played, Angus Gunn. He’s kept Norwich in this.

Firstly, Willian’s powerful effort is palmed away, before Hazard sees his header blocked by the goalkeeper.

Superb performance from him.

Back to the controversial VAR decision, here is what BBC commentator Jermaine Jenas had to say.

“That’s a definite penalty. There’s definitely contact from Timm Klose on Willian - you can see the contact.”

Phil Neville added on 5Live: “He went down because there was a clip. Why have it (VAR) if he hasn’t referred it?

“Use it Graham Scott, to get decisions like that right. If you don’t use it, get rid of it.”

On comes the cavalry for Chelsea.

Eden Hazard is off the bench as they look to go on to win this game.

Norwich have put in a very resilient showing so far.

The game has actually picked up in pace during extra-time.

Both teams making threatening runs forward.

Cantwell, who has come off the bench for Norwich, tries to play a dangerous ball across the box but Luiz makes an important block.

Wow. The VAR has NOT overruled the decision!

That is a bit controversial.

The VAR instructions claimed that they would only overturn obviously incorrect decisions.

There was contact, but maybe there wasn’t quite enough.

Very controversial moment - one for the pundits to mull over.

Right, just as I was putting on my coat ready to go home, we have another 30 minutes to go.

First action here is Willian going down in the box - he gets a booking for the dive.

But replays show there is contact.

VAR is back in action...

FT Chelsea 1-1 Norwich

We have extra-time to come.

What a finish here at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will be kicking themselves for not finishing off this game.

Another 30 minutes on the way.

Norwich clearly enjoyed the leveller - as it took them a good few minutes to send this out...

GOAL! NORWICH EQUALISE IN THE 94TH MIN!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

Norwich are level with a matter of seconds left.

Lewis heads home and we are on our way to extra-time!
