Antonio Conte will answer questions on Olivier Giroud, Edin Dzeko and more when he faces the press on Friday.

Chelsea are gearing up for a busy end to the transfer window, with links to strikers - as well as potential new full-backs - set to continue right up until the deadline.

The Blues have until 11pm on Wednesday night to complete any business.

In the meantime, there is a game for Conte to look ahead to and Chelsea will be hoping they don't suffer the same kind of scare they had last time out in the FA Cup.

Chelsea take on Newcastle at Stamford Bridge after scraping through on penalties in the last round against Norwich.

Follow all of Conte's comments in the build-up to the game right here. He'll be talking from 1:15pm.

That's a wrap

That’s all from Conte this afternoon.

Pretty surprisingly, no comment on the Giroud situation.

Here’s a short round up on what he said.

  • Willian, Morata and Courtois out injured
  • Fabregas has recovered and returns
  • Barkley will likely be on the bench - but will play
  • Conte has no issues with the board

No concerns on Alonso

Conte is not worried about the amount of football that Marcos Alonso is playing.

“I am not worried.

“Last season we had to deal with this situation in the same way.”

On Musonda's future

He’s now asked about Charly Musonda.

“As I said before, to buy or sell the club decide.

“He can be selected on Sunday.”

Barkley update

Conte says that Barkley will be used - but probably won’t start.

“As you know, after a bad injury you need a bit of time to be fit 100%.

“If you want to accelerate this process, he has to play, not only have the training session.”

Chelsea happy with hectic schedule

On the hectic schedule, Conte says that Chelsea like the schedule.

“The players are happy because they want to play and play every game.

“In this type of situation the coach loves to play and not have the training session.”

The FA Cup remains important

Conte is asked about the importance of the FA Cup.

“Every competition is important, we lost against Arsenal and now there is another competition.

“As you know this competition is very difficult. There is also an opponent and the opponent has the same ambition.”

Conte happy in his role

Conte says that he remains happy at Chelsea.

“This is something I don’t want to discuss with you.

“Nothing has changed (on his future).

“There was the summer, then after the summer and nothing has changed.

“I am happy to work with my players and for this club.”

Transfers still appear out of Conte's hands

Conte says nothing has changed with transfers.

He seems to still be happy with his current squad, suggesting transfer business is out of his hands.

“I think it is right to have this type of situation.

“I am repeating the same things, I am the coach and my task is to do the best for the club and try to improve these players.”

Willian also out of action

Oooh, not good news.

It’s only a small injury but Willian is out of the Newcastle game as well.

“Willian is out. Today with the doctor, he will have a scan to evaluate his injury but I don’t think we’re talking about a serious injury.”

More injury information

A little bit more on the Morata and Courtois injuries.

“I don’t know, it is very difficult to tell you today how many days they need to come back.

“Morata has a problem in his back and Courtois took a kick in his ankle.

“Fabregas trained today and tomorrow I will check his physical condition and form.”

Morata and Courtois out for Newcastle

We start with a little bit of team news.

Conte keeps this one brief.

“Morata, Courtois are out.”

The boss is here!

Updates to follow from Cobham...

Starting shortly

Conte will be here in a couple of minutes.

Sit tight, almost ready to go...

Conte on his way shortly

Antonio Conte will be with us in about 25 minutes.

We expect him to be asked about Olivier Giroud, just as Arsene Wenger was earlier today.

Here’s what Wenger had to say on his current situation:

“I want Olivier to stay. I just told you if nobody comes in, nobody goes out. Maybe one or two young players out on loan somewhere, but the experienced side of the squad will remain the same unless somebody comes in.”

Chelsea considering Giroud move

Chelsea are considering a move to persuade Olivier Giroud to swap the Emirates for Stamford Bridge.

The Arsenal striker has been expected to make a loan switch to Borussia Dortmund. But that appears in danger of breaking down with the German club unable to agree a deal with the Gunners for £65million-rated frontman Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to go the other way.

Chelsea, themselves in advanced talks with Roma frontman Edin Dzeko, have Giroud among their many options as Antonio Conte hunts a powerful forward to compete with Alvaro Morata.

The Blues had already considered West Ham’s Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch of Stoke and Burnley’s Ashley Barnes before settling on ex-Manchester City man Dzeko.

Earlier this week Antonio Conte confirmed he had been interested in signing Alexis Sanchez but pulled out of the running this month because he could not afford the Chilean’s wages.
