Arsene Wenger hasn't ruled out giving new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan an Arsenal debut at Swansea on Tuesday night.

The Armenian midfielder has only played once so far in 2018, when he was hauled off at half-time in Manchester United's FA Cup third round tie against Derby County .

With the Gunners having exited the competition in their 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest, there are no worries about Mkhitaryan being cup-tied this weekend as his new team don't have a game.

But Wenger could see Swansea as the perfect place to throw in his new signing.

"I haven’t decided yet (on when he's going to play).

"We will decide on Monday but he is available."

Mkhitaryan hasn't completed 90 minutes in the Premier League this season having been frozen out by United boss Jose Mourinho.

But Wenger is in no doubt about the new man's quality.

"He is a great footballer," he continued.

"I will know more about him in 2-3 days as we prepare and find out the best position for him.

"It doesn’t look like there will be any problems."

With the Gunners knocked out of the FA Cup at the third round stage for the first time in Wenger's 22 years in the job, the boss was also asked how he and the team will be spending their free weekend.

"Practicing and preparing," he said.

"We have a good opportunity to recover from Chelsea and prepare for Swansea."
