Alexis Sanchez has taken to Twitter to deny claims that Thierry Henry advised him to leave Arsenal for Manchester United, and has tipped the Frenchman to manage the Gunners one day.

The Chilean completed his move to Old Trafford on Monday, and caused Gunners fans to turn on the club's all-time top scorer Henry after suggesting that he spoke to the former forward before making the move.

In a message to Gunners fans, Sanchez wrote: “I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, a historic Arsenal player, who changed club for the same reason and today is my turn."

Gunners supporters hit out at Henry on social media after the message , calling the Sky Sports pundit - who left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2007, only to briefly return on a short-term deal - "a snake".

But tweeting on Wednesday, Sanchez clarified his comments.

"I want to clarify that Henry never told me to leave the club, it was a personal decision," he wrote.

"He LOVES the club and someday it would be nice to see him as the Arsenal coach because he loves the club."

The Chilean is expected to train with United on Wednesday, and is in contention to make his United debut in the FA Cup fourth round tie at Yeovil Town on Friday night.
