Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang allegedly sent a text message revealing his situation at Borussia Dortmund - and he's apparently been unhappy in Germany for quite some time.

Arsenal have made the Gabon international their top transfer target this January, and are keen on landing the striker before the window slams shut on Wednesday.

Aubameyang has been earmarked as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who left north London for Manchester United earlier this month.

Dortmund have told Arsenal they are ready to sell the striker for £60million, but the Gunners have so far rejected two bids that have fallen short of this figure.

The deal is expected to go down to the wire, but the Gunners remain confident that the transfer for the striker will get across the line.

German publication Bild has released a text message allegedly sent from Aubameyang to one of their reporters, where he gives an insight into his life at Dortmund.

The text, which was in fact sent all the way back in November, apparently made reference to him being suspended for bringing a camera crew to the training ground, and read: "This punishment is unfair."

The reporter who received the message, Jorg Weiler, commented: "This is no longer the 'old' Auba. You'd think someone was driving him away and gaining total control over him."

Arsenal remain confident of securing the 28-year-old's signature, despite fearing the transfer will go right down to the wire.

The Gunners are willing to offer the striker - who is desperate to move to the Emirates - a three-and-a-half year deal worth £180,000-a-week.
