Super-sub Javier Hernandez was back in business to douse the celebrations for centurion Eddie Howe.

The West Ham striker - famed for his goals from the bench at Manchester United, replaced the injured Manuel Lanzini here and struck from close range to cancel out Ryan Fraser’s opener, 17 minutes from time.

The leveller was Hernandez’s first since October 28 when the Mexican netted in a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace

Fraser had opened the scoring just one minute and nine seconds earlier, converting a fine diagonal through ball from another substitute, Junior Stanislas.

At that point, How looked set to toast his 100th Premier League match in charge of Bournemouth with a vital three points.

At the age of just 40 years and 52 days, Howe had become the third youngest English boss to reach the milestone after Glenn Hoddle and Gareth Southgate, who were both 38.

Instead he was left cursing the goal and the result that extended West Ham’s unbeaten run under David Moyes to seven games. A run that had begun with a 3-3 draw at Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

Moyes was dealt a blow, however, with Lanzini appearing to suffer a hamstring injury when he limped off after 63 minutes.

Eddie Howe is prepared for Bournemouth to hold their nerve and “do nothing” in the January transfer window.

The Cherries boss insists the Dean Court outfit are “not actively in the market” for new players this month - and Howe also wants to retain

all his top talents too.

Striker Benik Afobe and midfielder Harry Arter have been linked with moves away from the south coast, but Howe remains adamant both retain pivotal

roles at Bournemouth.

Arter had been linked with West Ham, Bournemouth’s Premier League opponents in London on Saturday, but Howe continues to insist the Ireland midfielder is going nowhere.

Asked if neither Afobe nor Arter are for sale, Howe said: “Yes, that’s the case.

“The situation’s not changed. We’ve had no bids for our players, and we’re not actively in the market.”
