Borrusia Dortmund are reportedly prepared to pay a £1.5million loan fee for Olivier Giroud .

There is a growing acceptance at the Bundesliga club that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will complete his £60m move to Arsenal before Wednesday's deadline.

And Dortmund, determined not be left short in attack, want to replace him with Frenchman Giroud.

The Arsenal striker has struggled to impress Arsene Wenger this season and is desperate to play regularly to ensure he makes France's World Cup side this summer.

Dortmund are digging their heals in over Aubameyang's move having rejected an opening offer of £44m from the north London club.

And their proposal, first reported by Bild, for Giroud shows their stance has softened even further.

The same outlet also claim that Aubameyang could make his debut for Arsenal in Tuesday's Premier League clash at Swansea.

And Dortmund manager Peter Stoger did not rule out his player's departure.

He said: "I can only say that we would soon like to have a solution to this situation.

"Whatever the outcome of this matter, everyone would agree that whatever brings clarity will help the team."
