Henrikh Mkhitaryan arrived at Manchester United’s training ground potentially for the final time on Friday morning, as he closes on his move to Arsenal.

The Armenian international looks set to complete his switch to north London, with both sides' hoping to do so today.

However, it is unlikely the deal will go ahead in time for him to feature against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with the move needing to be ratified before noon.

Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Riaola, met with the Gunners on Thursday night in attempt to thrash out a deal so both can play their respective new signings at the weekend.

Now both clubs are tying up the respective loose ends with regards Mkhitaryan and the deal taking Alexis Sanchez in the opposite direction.

Mkhitaryan will be hoping to impress at Arsenal, having struggled for regular action with United since falling foul of Jose Mourinho earlier in the season.

The 28-year-old, who scored the opening goal in last season's Europa League final, has started just two of the club's last 15 matches, having begun the campaign in United's preferred first XI.

Arsene Wenger confirmed on Thursday that he is expecting to land Mkhitaryan and that wage demands aren't a problem.

Wenger said: “My understanding, yes. Yes, of course. If it’s a possibility, it’s because I like the player.

“We played many times against him when he was at Dortmund. He certainly appreciated the quality of our game and the way we play football. That’s why certainly he loves the club as well.

“No, the wages would not be a problem. Look, this would be an exchange of players, and I think one would replace the other. Are we still on the transfer market after that? Yes.”
