Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement with Thomas Lemar as they bid to sign the Monaco winger.

The Reds are involved in a battle with Arsenal to try and land the French international either this month or in the summer.

Lemar came close to joining the Gunners last summer and would have made the switch to the Emirates if Manchester City had successfully managed to take Alexis Sanchez to the Etihad.

But the Chilean stayed put and has joined City's cross-town rivals United with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the other direction.

Lemar continues to be linked with an exit from Monaco after a stellar season last term as he helped them to an unlikely Ligue 1 title success.

He has three goals so far this campaign and is still catching the eye of some of Europe's biggest clubs.

And, according to Yahoo Sports, Liverpool have an agreement in place with the 22-year-old.

But Monaco are holding out for €100million which the Reds are seemingly reluctant to splurge.

They do have money to spend, however, following the £142million sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

Liverpool bought Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for £75million prior to the Brazilian's departure.
