Manchester United and Arsenal may have to wait until Monday at the earliest to officially complete their swap deal for Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Manchester United and Arsenal have finally reached an agreement on a sensational swap deal.

Sanchez had been set on a move to Old Trafford, though Arsene Wenger reiterated on Saturday that the deal could only happen if the Gunners received Mkhitaryan in return.

The Armenian was pictured in London on Saturday evening and both players are set for medicals on Sunday.

United and Arsenal are likely to announce an agreement has been reached but the deals won't be formally completed.

Both Sanchez and Mkhitaryan are non-EU players and must have their work permits ratified by their new clubs.

That will cause a slight hold-up in the transfer but both will be completed early in the week.

Sanchez is set to arrive in Manchester with agent Fernando Felicevich on Sunday morning with the medical scheduled for this afternoon.

Jose Mourinho claimed after United's 1-0 win over Burnley that a deal was "so close."

"If you ask me if I think he is coming, I think so, but I have no confirmation," Mourinho said.

"Expect soon or never. So close, so close, so close, if it doesn't happen it is not going to happen. I know my people doing absolutely everything they can. I think they will be successful."
