Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has apologised to Borussia Dortmund fans after completing his move to Arsenal.

The Gabon striker's club-record £56million switch was confirmed on Wednesday after signing a long-term deal.

Aubameyang, who has signed a three-and-a-half year deal worth £180,000 a week, took to Instagram to send a farewell message to the Bundesliga club and admitted he made mistakes during his spell.

The 28-year-old was suspended and fined this season after missing team meetings and breaking club rules as he got fed-up after being made to stay at Dortmund last summer.

"First of all sorry for everything that happened over the last month," he wrote.

"But I wanted to change last summer, it didn't work but now it had to be. Maybe it wasn't the best way I decided, but everyone knows that Auba is crazy - and yes, I'm a crazy boy.

"I will never forget these four and a half years at Borussia Doermund because you all gave me the strength for the level I am now on.

"I thank the whole BVB family, the fans, the club, the staff and of course my teammates!"

After sealing the move, he added: "I’m really happy to be here. Of course I can join Micki in this team, so I’m really happy to be here in this great team.

"I think the club has such a big history and great players like Thierry Henry. He's an example for us strikers. I’m really happy, like I said before."

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry insists that Aubameyang will be a good signing and can replace Alexis Sanchez.

Henry said: “Sanchez was always going to be like that because he could have been allowed to leave on a free. You lost Sanchez, Chamberlain, about to lose Giroud. Yes you got something in return with Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan. They have played together and that can be a plus.

“I have him (Auba) for a long time. He has gone on loan a lot but at Dortmund, took his game to a new level. Hopefully he can do that with Arsenal. I rate him. What I rate even more is his goals.

“Look at his tally. It is impressive. He can definitely help Arsenal.”
