Saints tried to trick the Bucs by hiding a man on a kickoff. It failed spectacularly

It’s a great play when it works, but...

The Saints tried some trickery on a kickoff at home against the Buccaneers, and well, it didn’t go their way.

After a Buccaneers field goal to cut the Saints lead to 9-3, New Orleans tried hiding Tommylee Lewis in the end zone:

Here’s what the play ultimately looked like, which involved Ted Ginn Jr. bouncing a lateral once off the ground to Lewis. He was stopped at the 7-yard line.

Ginn played some quarterback in high school, so you could have imagined he might have thrown a better ball to Lewis.

But even if Ginn had put that one on the money, it looked like Jacquizz Rodgers was going to make a play on him anyway.

The Buccaneers haven’t exactly been great this season at 2-5, and it seemed a little early for the Saints to try something like that.

The good news for the Saints? They ended up scoring a touchdown on the drive anyway to make it a 16-3 game.
