Duke has landed one of the top recruits in the country. Cameron Reddish, a 6’8 wing out of Norristown, Pa., picked the Blue Devils over Kentucky, UCLA, UConn, and Villanova on Friday night.

Reddish made the announcement on his 18th birthday on the Players Tribune:

Reddish is rated as the No. 3 prospect in the class of 2018 by ESPN. He’s a big wing who fits into Duke’s recent lineage of one-and-done forwards which includes Jabari Parker, Justise Winslow, Brandon Ingram and Jayson Tatum. Each of those players was a top-10 NBA Draft pick and Reddish could be as well as early as 2019.

Reddish’s combination of size and shooting ability makes him an elite prospect. As a member of the USA U19 team this summer, Reddish averaged 10.7 points per game and went 13-of-24 from three-point range. He’s been measured with a 7’1 wingspan, which makes him imposing on the defensive end.

Reddish is now the highest-rated recruit to make his college choice. He’s the second commit in the class, following point guard Tre Jones, the younger brother of former Blue Devil Tyus Jones. Jones is rated as the No. 7 overall player in the 2018 class, per Rivals.

Duke is also considered a front-runner for No. 1 overall recruit R.J. Barrett. We pegged Barrett (and Reddish) to Duke in a predictions post last week. Read our feature from this spring on Barrett’s rise as Canadian basketball’s brightest hope.
