What should I know about the two teams in the Foster Farms Bowl?

Purdue (6-6, 4-5 in Big Ten)

Jeff Brohm’s a wizard.

That’s the only explanation I’ve got for how the Big Ten’s worst recruiting team for years went from four consecutive seasons of three wins or fewer to bowl eligibility in a new coach’s first year. The former XFL bad-boy QB is a smart offensive mind, and he’s gotten miles more out of Purdue’s players than former coach Darrell Hazell did. So, the Boilers are here. They punched their ticket by beating rival Indiana in Week 13, and they’ll be easy to root for.

Arizona (7-5, 5-4 in Pac-12)

The Wildcats were bad a year ago, and they looked iffy during a 2-2 start to this season. But their fortunes turned when dual-threat quarterback Khalil Tate took the reins and started destroying teams with his legs and his arm. This year’s October Heisman winner turned the Wildcats’ season around, and now the Cats are in a bowl for the eighth time in 10 years.

Arizona isn’t much on defense, but it has an exciting running game and offense. That makes the Wildcats a pretty good watch for people who like points. You can read more about them at SB Nation’s Arizona blog, AZ Desert Swarm.
