Fantasy football Week 7: Michael Thomas, start or sit?

The Saints’ top receiver cooled off last week. We break down the fantasy implications.

NFL: Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Saints wide receiver was held to just 11 yards on three catches against the Detroit Lions in Week 6. It was a disappointing effort considering his team posted 52 points in the game.

Can he bounce back in a tougher matchup in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers? Only time will tell.

Fantasy impact: Prior to his disappointing effort last week, Thomas had posted three straight games with at least five catches and 87 yards. He’s also been targeted at least eight times in every game except the dud against Detroit.

For those reasons, it’s hard to justify sitting him against Green Bay. The fact is Thomas has become Drew Brees’ favorite target. That’s always a good thing for a fantasy owner.

A word of caution however. Just four receivers have managed more than 63 yards against the Packers this season.

Optimistic owners should look for Thomas to be the fifth one. He’s too good and too well liked to be held down for long.

Recommendation: Start
