Drew Brees tweeted earlier this week that the team would kneel before the anthem, and stand while it was played — much like the Dallas Cowboys did on Monday Night Football earlier in the week.
As a way to show respect to all, our #Saints team will kneel in solidarity prior to the national anthem & stand together during the anthem.

The moment was barely shown on TV, with FOX electing to return from commercial break only to show the players standing following their knee — meaning this was all football fans watching at home got to see.
FOX also chose not to show the Dolphins’ sideline, which had three players kneeling during the anthem.

It’s unclear how many teams will continue protests in Week 4. Several teams have already said they plan to stand for the anthem and use other ways to protest, while the vast majority have not spoken on the issue. President Donald Trump, however, continues to tweet about standing for the anthem. In the last 15 hours the president has tweeted three times, including a video of a preseason NHL game between the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks praising players standing for the anthem.
